What's included in the Whole-Body MRI
The Simply MRI Whole-Body MRI is a comprehensive preventative imaging study designed to screen for early-stage cancers, vascular abnormalities, and structural disease across every major organ system in a single appointment. You arrive, change, lie down in the scanner for roughly 60–90 minutes, and leave the same day.
Areas examined
- Brain & Head: screens for tumours, aneurysms, ischemic injury, and signs of stroke or neurodegenerative disease.
- Cervical, Thoracic & Lumbar Spine: evaluates the spinal cord, vertebrae, discs, and nerve roots.
- Neck: thyroid, lymph nodes, and major vessels.
- Chest: lungs and mediastinum, identifying masses larger than ~1.5 cm.
- Abdomen & Pelvis: liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands, bladder, ovaries, uterus, and prostate — detecting tumours as small as ~1 cm.
- Major joints: shoulders, hips, and knees for noticeable musculoskeletal pathology.
What conditions can it detect early?
Whole-body MRI is one of the only imaging modalities able to screen for a wide range of conditions in a single radiation-free study. Common findings include:
- Solid-organ tumours (liver, kidney, pancreas, ovary, prostate)
- Brain aneurysms and small vessel disease
- Spinal disc herniation and degenerative change
- Aortic aneurysm and other vascular abnormalities
- Cysts, fibroids, and benign masses worth monitoring
Why $2,500 instead of $3,000+?
Comparable scans at other Toronto private clinics range from $2,999 (Prenuvo) to $3,250 (WholeBodyMRI.ca) to $3,650 with bloodwork. Simply MRI scans on the latest Siemens MAGNETOM 1.5T with Deep Resolve AI reconstruction — superb image quality well beyond conventional 1.5T scanning, matching and often exceeding standard hospital MRI — and the same board-certified radiologists. We just run a leaner operation, pass the savings on, and let you pay when you arrive.

Frequently asked questions about the Whole-Body MRI
What does the whole-body MRI cover?
Brain, spine (cervical, thoracic, lumbar), neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and major joints — covering all vital organs in a single visit.
Does the standard Whole-Body MRI include cancer screening?
Yes. Both of our scans are cancer-screening scans, and the standard Whole-Body MRI ($2,500) is the more comprehensive one: it screens the brain, neck, full spine, chest, abdomen and pelvis, plus major joints and blood vessels, for tumours and other abnormalities. The Whole-Body MRI Light ($1,500) covers the highest-yield cancer screening regions only — head, neck, abdomen and pelvis — and does not include the spine or chest.
Does this scan include a full spine MRI?
Yes. The Standard Whole-Body MRI ($2,500) includes full spine imaging — cervical, thoracic and lumbar — covering the spinal cord, vertebrae, discs and nerve roots. The lower-cost Whole-Body MRI Light ($1,500) does not include the spine; it covers head, neck, abdomen and pelvis only. Choose the Standard scan if you have back or neck pain or want your spine assessed.
How long does the scan take?
Approximately 60–90 minutes depending on body size. You stay still in the scanner; no injections required for most patients.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. Whole-body MRI at Simply MRI is a private preventative service — book directly online, no referral needed.
How much does the standard whole-body MRI cost?
$2,500 CAD — hundreds less than competing GTA clinics, which typically charge $2,999–$3,650 for a comparable protocol.
When do I get my results?
Board-certified radiologist reports are delivered to your patient portal within 24–48 hours of your scan.
