    Before your visit

    How to prepare for your scan

    MRI needs almost no prep — but these few things keep your walk-in visit fast and safe.

    Dress metal-free

    Comfortable clothes with no zippers, snaps, underwire or metallic thread. We provide a gown if needed, and lockers for everything else.

    Fast for 4 hours

    Please do not eat for 4 hours before your scan. Water and your regular medications are fine — this keeps abdominal images clear.

    Leave metal at home

    Jewellery, watches, hairpins, piercings, hearing aids and anything magnetic must come off before you enter the scan room.

    Arrive 15 minutes early

    That's enough time for safety screening and paperwork so your scan starts on time. Plan for 45–75 minutes in total.

    Flag implants and health conditions

    Pacemakers, implants, surgical clips, pregnancy, kidney disease or claustrophobia must be reviewed by our technologist first — tell us in the pre-screen.

    Take your usual medication

    Keep to your normal routine. If you need something for claustrophobia, arrange it with your doctor and bring a driver.

    Bring with you

    • Government-issued photo ID
    • Health card (for identification)
    • Insurance details if you're claiming reimbursement
    • A list of implants, devices or past surgeries
    • Any previous imaging reports or discs
    • Payment method — we charge at the clinic

    I was very pleased with my experience at Simply MRI! Everyone there was very nice and made me feel very comfortable. I was able to get an appointment at a time that was convenient for me. When I got there, I didn't have to wait long after filling out the forms, they took me right away. The whole experience was a good one and I highly recommend them! Definitely worth the money! It took about an hour and a half, but the MRI machine is bright and spacious, so not bad at all.
